Wow -- someone at Lenovo emailed me.

Before I went to bed, I thought I would check my email, and I was surprised to find a message from a Lenovo employee, Timothy Supples. Here is what the message contained:

Hello,
I saw your post on our blog and wanted to see what I could do to help. If you can send me your order and customer number, I can look into your post and hopefully see what the cause for the delay is. Thanks for bearing with us!

Pretty cool, eh?

That's great customer service in my opinion. From my experience with other large companies, you really don't get that kind of attention.

This is my first time doing business with Lenovo.

I explained to him my situation and gave him the information he needed.
Well, good night.

Uh oh! Shipping date too late for me?

I just checked my order status and realized that it will not ship until Tuesday 05/08/07. I ordered it on 4/24/2007. This is not good as I am leaving my home on Wednesday May 9, 2007 to a metting in Florida! I won't be back for atleast a week, so how would they deliever it to my home?

I definetly need a tablet PC before I leave as I need to take it with me!

Not sure what I should do. I contacted Lenovo by email early this morning, but have not heard from that yet. My friends suggest I cancel the order for the X60 and go to Best Buy and purchase the Gateway Tablet because it has what I need. Plus it is about $400 cheaper, has the same features, a CD/DVD drive (Which I do not care too much about though), and its only a little bit heavier, BUT it has a 16:9 aspect ratio. I really liked the X60 though.

Not sure what I should do.

My confrimation email...yeah!

The first time I hit "Submit Order, " I got "This Page Cannot be Displayed." Got scared for a few seconds, wondering if I would be charged twice. But then after a few minutes I realized I recieved no confirmation email, so I was assuming it did not get through, so I tried again---and success!

Just got my confitmation email from Lenovo:

Can't wait...!

Notice of future purchasers.

A tip on future X60 purchasers:

What I found out right before I purchased the unit is that NOT ALL MODELS have the touchscreen feature. Make sure you read through all 5 of the different x60 Tablet models.

Moving posts:

So after doing a considerable amount of research, and believe me when I say considerable, I went with a NEW Lenovo X60. I looked at: reviews, some of the videos on YouTube, as well as checked one that a collegue from my old work has. I like the X60 Tablet's shape and build.

The only two things that was keeping me from purchasing the Lenovo X60 are:
  1. The Price
  2. I have read and heard that they take forever to ship* *for this reason, I alsmot purchased a X41 off of eBay because I would get it in about 2-3 days.

Never purchased an IBM before -- so this will be my first. I am told they are great systems and they hold their value, so I am looking forward to getting it! Just hoping I get it before I leave in 2 weeks.

The price......well, after all, my stocks are doing good, so I can definitely afford it (even IBM). Also, my IT department at my University is looking into purchasing several Tablet PC's for use for professors in class. They are looking into Lenovo's models as well as other ones, so this is also a good reason to get one. Since I am responsible for this program at the University, this would be a double positive for me in assiting me in making these recommendations.

So I went to the website, looked at some of the different X60 models, and ordered the one that fits my needs. I don't need an extremely powerful one because I use my powerful desktop to do those kinda things.

Putting the CC number in took a lot of energy out of me -- but after it was all said and done, I can't wait to have this in my hands. Wahoo!

Oh great.

Moving all my posts from a different blog system:

So my old tablet kinda blew up tonight--just shutdown with a spark and doesn't turn on anymore. Can't get it fixed cause its pretty old, and my warranty had expired a month a half ago. I have been thinking of purchasing a new tablet PC recently, and now is probably a good time to get one (Since I no longer have one that really works).

I have been comparing a few:

  1. HP Pavilion tx1000z
  2. Asus R1 Tablet PC
  3. Toshiba Portege R400
  4. HP Compaq TC4400 Tablet PC
  5. Gateway CX (Tablet PC)
  6. Lenovo X60 Tablet
6 in mind....tough decision.

I want a smaller laptop this time, not one that feels like I'm carrying dumbbells around. This is where the Lenovo X60 comes in. I have been eyeing this one out for a while (including its predecessor, the X41). It's very nice, small, and I like the color -- but it's a bit expensive. The HP has really good ratings, but the Gateway is cheaper. The HP TX1000z series has an AMD Turion X64 processor. I was a big fan of AMD until Intel came out the the Core Duo's.

The HP is just as light as the X60, but it has a16:9 ratio -- which I don't really like on my notebooks. Actually, most of those, except the Lenovo are 16:9's except the Lenovo.

I am a Technicial Administrator at a major technical University, and we all like to work in 4:3 ratios because it is easier to customize pages, and graphics for those screens (gives you a better perspective of how something will look).

I want to make sure that my new Tablet is light, easily portable, has at least year warranty, and a VGA port (this is a MUST!!! because I have to give atleast 12-15 presentations a week, and I always need to hook up to a projector).

Selecting a new model is an extremely difficult task in my opinion cause there are so many choices.

Let's think......
